WHEN
June 4, 2022, 8 PM
WHERE
The Consulate-General of the People's Republic of China in Los Angeles, 443 Shatto Pl, Los Angeles, CA 90020
WHY
The people of Hong Kong had been persistently holding candlelight vigil to mourn the 1989 Tiananmen Square Massacre until recently. With the continuous suppression of the democracy movement in Hong Kong since 2019, it is even more important and meaningful for Hongkongers everywhere around the world to confront the Chinese Communist Party of their abuses in human rights. The candlelight vigil in Los Angeles is joined by similar gatherings in major cities around the world hosted by Hongkongers and mainland Chinese throughout this week.
There will be a one-hour program with speeches and songs. Candles will be provided. Participants are encouraged to bring their own candles. The gathering will be conducted in Cantonese and English.
