WHAT: The
Visual Artists Guild presents ART & DEMOCRACY IV Exhibition
to
highlight the 20 Year Anniversary of the Tiananmen Square Massacre and
the Fall
of the Berlin Wall with the work of 33 acclaimed artists highlighting
the
political and social struggles of our world and the human desire for
civil
liberties.
WHEN: Thursday, October 8, 2009 from 6 – 9 pm. Admission free
WHERE: Gallery H, 222 East 34th Street (betw. 2nd & 3rd Aves.) New York City

WHO: Thirty-three artists from the US and around the world. Participating artists include Taiwan-born Long-Bin Chen, known for his sculptures and installations carved from telephone books and Yellow Pages, and Melissa Atkinson, known for her” Berlin Crosses” etching . Also, Award-winning Chilean artist Guillermo Bert will feature two from his ironic Bar Code Series that encode the word Democracy in the actual art, and Melissa Atkinson. The Consulting Curator for this show is Cynthia Nadelman.
